  • Recruited, hired, and trained X number of employees
  • Contributed to a business that grossed $3 million in annual revenue

Being specific like this shows how large the job was, and the responsibilities you had during your time there.

3. Using Only One Resume Type 

There’s no such thing as one perfect resume. Each time you apply for a job, your resume should evolve. If you’re applying for a position in the food service industry, your experience as an electrical engineer isn’t exactly relevant.

Always put your most relevant experience front and center. Your goal is to show how your skills fit the position’s requirements.

4. Sticking to One Page Only 

There’s a myth out there that resumes have to be one page. That’s not entirely true. You can have a two page resume that’s just as successful as one with a single page.

3. Don’t Use Complicated Fonts or Designed 

Most companies use an applicant tracking system (ATS) to organize their resumes they receive. These systems have a difficult time displaying complex fonts. If this causes your resume to be unreadable, it will be skipped.

4.  Use Numbers
