A second store opened in 1975 still located in the same city and a third store opened the next year in Tulsa.
By 1982 there were seven stores, with the first store outside Oklahoma opening in 1984. By the time 1989 rolled around, the company had an impressive fifteen stores. And within a few more years, it had fifty locations in seven states!
Growth continued to occur at a blazing fast rate until the store opened its 100th store in August of 1995, and the 200th store opened in 1999. Nowadays, the company is rocking 600 stores across the nation. Each one averages 55,000 square feet in size and offers a catalog of over 67,000 crafting and home decor products. Even with all of this growth and expansion, the company carries no long-term debt.
Hobby Lobby is open six days a week with Sunday being the only day they are consistently closed. This is due to David Green’s religious beliefs. Mr. David Green is a very devout Christian, and his beliefs permeate through the company website, but I for one find it refreshing that he communicates such positive messages and intentions for his employees.

The online careers page for Hobby Lobby provides a lot of great information about opportunities with the company, but the only way to actually apply online is for a management position. Entry-level and hourly positions have to inquire at a location to receive a paper application. Don’t sweat it though, there’s a store locator you can use, and with over 600 locations to choose from nowadays, your options aren’t limited in the slightest. The company is continuing to grow exponentially. Up until a year or so ago, I hadn’t ever seen a Hobby Lobby, but now I have one down the street from where I live, so it’s clearing a company that is making waves. When you locate a store to apply at, head in wearing something presentable and bring your best handwriting since you’ll have to fill out the form by hand.

The last two are considered optional, but as I’ve always said, having these documents on hand to supply with your employment forms will always grant you an edge over the competition.
