I don’t know who came up with the idea to dip doughnuts in things like coffee, but it was a brilliant move on their part. I don’t think it directly led to the creation of Dunkin’ Donuts, but it certainly could have. We’ll find out my friends, all in good time. More importantly though, we’re here to discuss your career.
All it takes to place yourself on a successful career path is a Dunkin Donuts application. Once you’ve properly filled it out, the possibilities are truly endless for you going forward.
Starting a career is about more than just filling out a form though, it’s about knowing the company like the back of your hand, it’s about being aware of positions and salary options, and it’s definitely about getting some benefits in the long run.
Lucky for you, we’re here to do just that, so let’s get started!
Company Overview & History
Good old Dunkin’ Donuts is an American global doughnut company and coffeehouse chain. Perhaps they were the ones to bring us the age old combination of coffee and doughnuts? Possible, but if you want to know, you’ll need to visit them at their headquarters in Canton, Massachusetts and something tells me they won’t tell you.
It’s fine, don’t worry about that, what you should know is that Dunkin’ Donuts is one of the largest coffee and baked goods chains in the world. They are 11,000 locations strong and have a presence in 33 different countries.
The name didn’t start out this way though, when the first location opened in 1948 it was called Open Kettle. Then, in 1949 it changed to Kettle Donuts. Finally, they made up their mind in 1950 and called it Dunkin’ Donuts.
The most popular items on his menu were, as you might have already guessed, donuts and coffee. Within thirteen years, the company had grown to 100 restaurants and two years later it expanded into Canada.
Over time, the menu has evolved to incorporate a large number of items. Instead of just doughnuts and coffee, they also serve breakfast sandwiches, bagels, and a variety of iced coffees and lattes. Obviously doughnuts aren’t the healthiest thing in the world, but Dunkin’ Donuts has made it a point to make them as healthy as possible.
In 2007 they reduced Trans fats from the menu by substituting them with palm. Soybean, and cottonseed oils.
There is also a new DDSmart menu that has items reduced in fat, saturated fat, sugar, or sodium respectively. There’s not much more to say, other than this is the best combination since peanut butter and jelly.
Let’s find out how you can start your career here!
Coffee is like a blank canvas for an artist to paint upon. There’s a thousand different ways to do it, and everybody’s got their way of doing it. If you’re looking to become a coffee guru, check out Starbucks as well for a really expansive list of recipes.
From there, Panera Bread will show you an upscale cafe that delights in coffee and tea. Don’t forget about Krispy Kreme though, those doughnuts are quite something.
Dunkin’ Donuts Application Online
While many companies offer an online option, it’s certainly not the standard. Now that I’ve terrified you into thinking you have to fill out an employment form by hand, I’ll let you know that you can do the entire process online at the Dunkin’ Donuts careers page. I for one was entirely relieved, my handwriting has often been mistaken for an ancient forgotten language.
On the website, you’ll find a simple process to fill out the forms and submit your information. That being said, applying online doesn’t always work. When you apply online none of your personality or personal experience shines through.
This is because an online form does not speak to who you are, it’s just a collection of data. It may or may not get you an interview, but we don’t like to leave anything up to chance.
After you’ve finished applying online, make it a point to stop into the location. Here you can introduce yourself in person and showcase your winning personality. The hiring manager will be far more impressed and able to recall someone who took the time to stop by and introduce themselves in person.
Dunkin’ Donuts Salary Options and Positions
This entry-level position brings with it a number of duties that range from customer service, fulfilling orders, and cleaning up the restaurant after a day of business.
In this position you’ll need to work with food equipment, coffee machines, and other items which require you to follow strict safety standards. This also provides you with a large amount of experience in various areas of the store.
You’ll start out making around minimum wage but you can make up to $9.00 per hour in this position.
This position requires you to prepare the massive variety of doughnuts that the company sells. This job will place you in the back of the store working with kitchen equipment.
You will prepare the majority of items prior to the opening of the restaurant so I hope you like getting up early. Even so, these odd hours give you freedom during the day like most positions won’t. This hourly position pays between $9.00 and $10.00.
3. Managerial Positions
Dunkin’ Donuts uses a multi-level management structure starting with shift leaders, then moving to supervisors, assistant managers, and restaurant managers.
These levels of management deal with various aspects of the business while leading other people on the staff, and maintaining the business.
Hiring and training workers is another major part of this position. As you probably imagined already, these positions require a significant amount of prior experience as well.
That being said, the hourly manager positions cap out at around $13.00 per hour, while the salaries can push into $60,000 per year for restaurant managers.
As with many jobs in a restaurant chain, benefits are present and widely varied based on position and tenure. Here are the benefits you can expect to earn when working with Dunkin’ Donuts:
- Flexible Hours
- Fast-paced work environments
- Continued learning and development options
- Discounted menu items
- Sick days, vacation time, paid time off
- Medical insurance
- 401(k) retirement plans
Being that many locations are franchised, Dunkin’ Donuts benefits can vary from location to location. Even so, the benefits are quite enticing.
Final Thoughts and Words of Encouragement
You know, there’s a lot of job websites out there and many of them will do what I’ve done, albeit not as good.
They will give you tips on how to apply and maybe some benefits and positions, but that’s it. Have you ever noticed that most of them don’t bother to encourage you? It’s absurd, half the battle is confidence and the drive to know you can have the career you want if you work hard enough.
Well, this is Eapplicants, not some job website, and I’m here to tell you that drive, personality, and confidence will get you this job.
My information will help too, but suffice to say, I believe in you and I think you deserve a career with this company. Fill yourself with pride (not too much) and fill out the Dunkin’ Donuts application today!
