Company Overview & History
Claire’s is a retail store that specializes in jewelry, accessories, and cosmetics. Claire’s is actually one of two different brands that are owned by the same company: Claire’s and Icing. The former stores focus more on catering to young teenager girls.
Whereas the latter company targets the twenty to thirty-something crowd of women. However, personally I think you can never be too old to add pizazz to your style, and all of Claire’s caters to that!
The company’s headquarters are in Hoffman Estates, Illinois. There are over 3,460 stores worldwide, in thirty-six different countries. Apparently everyone really needs their bling. Almost 2,000 of those stores are in the United States, resulting in Claire’s stores being in 95% of U.S. malls.
The company Claire’s, which was originally known as Fashion Trees Industries, was founded in 1961 by Rowland Schaefer.
The company’s focus at the time was wigs, and it quickly became the world’s largest fashion wig retailer. In 1973, the company also fell prey to the distraction of the shiny bling of jewelry, and Claire’s main focus was switched from wigs to jewelry. The Icing brand was added to the family in 1996.
In 1978, Claire’s started their famous ear piercing services, which they still continue to do today. Almost all of the locations offer ear piercing, from fully trained staff using a Studex piercing gun. A lot of stores offer special sales that include free ear piercing with the purchase of certain types of earrings.
It’s always great to apply to several different places. What better way to catch a fish than to throw out a bunch of lines instead of just one line! Come on, no one? Ok no more fishing metaphors. Anyway, try applying to other specialty stores. If your specialty is gaming apply to GameStop; the one stop shop for gamers.
