Chili’s unique brand of Tex-Mex cuisine has been one of my favorites for as long as I can remember. These days it’s hard to find the time (or the money) to go out and eat, but if I do, Chili’s is at the top of my list.
What is it about this place? It comes down to the food, the drinks, and the people. Today we’re looking at how you can fill out the Chili’s application and start your career.
We’ll cover the history, the menu, the culture, and the feel of the a typical Chili’s experience before showing you how to fill out the online job forms and put your name in the running.
The Company’s History, Menu & Culture
The story of Chili’s began in 1975 when the first location opened in Dallas, Texas. This original spot was a post office that had been converted into a casual dining restaurant. The original concept was a place where people could come for a burger and a beer at a reasonable price.
The concept was casual and fun. This was a place to eat and drink, but also to hang out and catch up with old friends. That atmosphere has never left, I’m happy to say. The founder, Larry Levine, grew the company to 28 locations by the 1980s, and it didn’t stop there.
Today the company celebrates 20-years in Mexico and locations across the world. Chili’s refers to their mission as “MVP” which stands for: Mission, Vision, and Passion. This concept guides them through everything they do.
The mission of the company is to serve Fresh Tex & Mex flavors like no place else. The vision is to achieve Chili’s Love by 2020, and their passion to make every customer feel special.
The team at each Chili’s locations is valued by the company and the goal is to make them feel special and valued. The atmosphere of each location contributes to this exciting and fun working environment.
This atmosphere is centered around the concept that Chili’s owns the “Southwest” in terms of its culture surrounding hospitality. Team members are even referred to as “ChiliHeads.”
The company is also focused on giving back to the community. There’s a huge focus on this, as they were able to raise $50 million in donations for the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital over the last ten years.
Before we move into details about your upcoming career at Chili’s, I’d like to share my own personal experience with the company. I personally have gone on many a date to Chili’s and each time it has been spectacular.
The menu is an awesome mix of Texas staples like steak, ribs, and burgers. It also combines several excellent Mex options like tacos, quesadillas, and more. Every time we go, I have to try and narrow down the choices.
The servers at Chili’s are also amazing. Customer service is extremely important to them, and you can tell. I’ve never had a bad experience with one of the waiters or waitresses here, and that’s saying something in this industry.
I know a lot of companies try to make themselves sound like they’re fun and hip, but Chili’s really does it. Everything about the restaurant, from the menu, to the people, to the atmosphere, it’s all authentic to the bone. I can’t say I’ve had that kind of experience anywhere else, which is why I think it would be an amazing opportunity to work here.
Now I know I’m talking up Chili’s like crazy, but there are other fun places to work as well in the restaurant industry. Once you’re finished applying here, the next stop on your list should be Outback Steakhouse. This is another restaurant that nails the atmosphere.
