Chick-Fil-A Careers & Employment

I grew up eating a lot of chicken. My mom, bless her heart, made chicken almost every night. It was like they had somehow discovered a new species of chicken, one that was instantly better than all the rest. I used to imagine they had some sort of golden species at their disposal.

Besides great food, the people working there are always so friendly. No matter how many times I say “thank you” the response will always be “my pleasure!” I didn’t know they made people that nice. I’ll bet you’d be perfect here dear reader, so let’s find out how you can fill out a Chick-fil-A application and join their team. One benefit too is that you’ll always have your Sundays off for church, football, or both, because the company’s locations are closed on Sundays.

Company Overview & History

You know, they call Chick-Fil-A fast food, and while it is indeed fast, the quality is just out of this world. I’ve been to restaurants that served me chicken that I’m fairly certain contained anywhere from 10-40% rubber. This “fast food” place as it is categorized has only ever shown me the best chicken sandwich that money can buy. No grease, no oddly shaped patties, just sweet, sweet breaded chicken.

Chick-fil-A is an American fast food restaurant chain headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, in the suburb of College Park. The company was founded in 1946 and is consistently associated with the Southern United States. There are over 1,700 locations in 38 U.S States. The company is currently seeking to grow its influence in the American Midwest, the Philippines, South Korea, Canada, and Southern California.

The company’s culture is centered on the Southern Baptist beliefs of the COO Dan Cathy. This is why the stores are all closed on Sunday. The origins of the company date back to the Dwarf Grill which is now known as the Dwarf House, a restaurant opened by S. Truett Cathy, Chick-fil-A’s former chairman and CEO, in 1946. This location was settled in Hapeville, a suburb of Atlanta, Georgia. This location is near the now demolished Ford Motor Company Atlanta Assembly Plant which was a source of customers for many years.

In 1961, after 15 years in the business, Cathy discovered a pressure-fryer that cooked the chicken sandwich in the same amount of time it took to cook a hamburger. This was when he filed the trademark name Chick-Fil-A. This was also when the signature slogan appeared. Come on, we all know you mumble it in your sleep. You know the one: “We Didn’t Invent the Chicken, Just the Chicken Sandwich.” Yes you did Mr. Cathy, yes you did.

The name came from the fact that Cathy wanted to create an appealing name for what he described as a “chicken steak sandwich.” Since the fillet is the best cut of beef, he decided to refer to the chicken in his sandwiches as a fillet, which is where the company’s name comes from. The capital “A” is supposed to bring about connotations of high quality.

The first Chick-fil-A location opened in 1967 in the food court of the Greenbriar Mall. The company quickly expanded interior locations and into the realm of stand-alone restaurants. In addition, the company is also found on university campuses, hospitals, airports, anywhere you can cook chicken really. We’ve all probably had food here, so now it’s time to take the next step.
