Cheddar’s Casual Cafe, now that’s what I call an alliteration! This restaurant chain offers high quality food and a relaxing dining experience to its customers. I actually had my first experience with Cheddar’s recently and I was floored by the experience.
More on that later. For now, we’re going to dive into the Cheddar’s application and how you can get hired by this growing restaurant chain. We’ll start by covering the company’s history and menu, followed by its hiring process.
The Company’s Menu and History
Based out of Irving, Texas, Cheddar’s has a focus on crafting food that is fresh and natural. You don’t see this kind of dedication every day because of the sheer work that goes into such a goal, but they make it happen.
The secret ingredient isn’t so secret either. They simply have over double the amount of cooks when compared to other restaurants. This allows them to cook everything fresh and the way it was meant to be.
The menu consists of classic items like steaks, chicken, seafood, burgers, salads, and desserts. Each location also features a full bar, which brings me to my personal experience. I went to Cheddar’s for a dinner celebration with some friends and the night soon turned to staring down the drink menu.
Which brings me to the drink I tried. The name escapes me, but suffice to say, the menu states you’re only allowed 2 of them and then you’re cut off. Despite this first impression, the drink itself was a fantastic tropical delight. It came in a massive goblet with toasted coconut lining the edge of the glass.
A slice of pineapple was perched on the side as a garnish. The drink itself tasted like a tropical paradise blended into smoothie form. It hit me like a truck after the fact, but it was awesome. On a complete side note, the bar was closing up at the end of the night and they offered me another one they made on the house.
Man, I loved that experience at Cheddar’s. The company’s history started back in 1979 when Aubrey Good and Doug Rogers founded the company. That first location was in Arlington, Texas. By 1995, there were ten locations.
In 2003, the company had spiked to 42 locations in 13 states. Brazos Private Equity Partners made an investment that year to grow the company further. In August of 2006, the company had 55 locations in 15 states. Oak Investment Partners and Catterton Partners jointly purchased Cheddar’s in that year.
In August of 2007, the company also brought in Kelly Baltes from Darden Restaurants to be the new CEO. Today, there are 135 company-owned and franchised locations in 23 states.
In 2012, Zagat gave Cheddar’s the number one spot as the Top Overall American Cuisine, the Top Rated Food, and the Top Rated Decor in their ranking categories.
Consumer Reports also gave Cheddar’s their number one spot in the Pub Style and Grill Category surveys conducted in 2009 and 2012.
Now, let’s find out how to get hired with this company, shall we?
Casual dining is a great way to get out of the house for a date or just some time alone with some great food. Once you’ve applied here, the next stop on your list should be Olive Garden for a similar experience with Italian food. Next up, we have Outback Steakhouse for the Australian feel. Finally, I am a personal lover of Cracker Barrel so I suggest you apply there too.
