After Hesse retired in 1973, the Ace Hardware was sold to its retailers which turned it into the retailers’ cooperative that it is today. The headquarters also moved to Oak Brook. The independent owners at this point became dealer-owners and shareholders in the company. Pay attention here, you’ve got six pairs of ears now so I know you can hear me. This is not a franchise run business, which means that each store looks different. Even so, the company has endeavored to try and establish consistent product brands so people recognize an element of the brand.

Back to the present then, and it looks like everything didn’t get fixed. Well, look on the positive side, with all those mutated limbs you’re bound to get recognized. The annual sales figures are huge, pushing $13 billion a year, making it recognized by Forbes Magazine as one of the top 25 companies in the U.S.
